South Shore Axess Collection Desk perfect to organizing clutter in childs room. It features a compact design that includes space for everything needed for schoolwork and projects. A low hutch offers shelving for books or keepsakes, and the spacious desktop offers plenty of room to spread out homework or house a laptop. Underneath, a shelf keeps a computer keyboard ready for use until it is needed. Flexible storage options include a drawer and 2 open shelves that offer room for a CPU, writing supplies and paper. Partially open back for wire management.

This desk has been designed to perfectly match any South Shore Furniture item in Chocolate or espresso finishes. Made of recycled CARB compliant particle panels, this bookcase has to be assembled by two adults. Measures 42 inches wide by 20 inches deep by 36.75 inches high. It is delivered in one box measuring 44 inches by 22 inches by 7 inches and weighs 85 pounds. Tools are not included. 5 year warranty. Made in Mexico.

Please keep in mind that I am a single mother (not a handy man or Bob the Builder) while reading this review. This desk took me (and only myself) about a little over an hour to completely put together. I found the instructions easy to understand because I can follow picture diagrams fairly well. I'll admit, some parts made did confuse me a bit, but after reading over it once more, I understood. I felt warned when I read previous reviews on this product, but went ahead and bought the desk for the low price anyway, and I do love it. It's very sturdy, which I didn't expect at all. It also has a very nice and modern look to it. It's also quite heavy. I do believe it is a good buy and would recommend this to anyone who has been eying it like I was.

Assembly is a little tough on your own, but it's recommended you have another person help you anyway. Do be careful not to put too much weight onto the keyboard tray; the plastic wheels it glides on are fragile and will break under enough weight. (Like you leaning on it a bit.)

This is a great desk for the price. When it first arrived the top desk surface piece was broken on the corner which is always a bummer. I was not expecting the outcome to be positive. Here's how it went: I called and had to leave a message on a Friday evening (South Shore is in Canada and their time zone is different than mine). Imagine my surprise when a lovely customer service agent CALLED ME BACK on the following Saturday morning - nice as could be. It was a simple, straightforward phone call and she said they'd ship the replacement part to be to me within two weeks. It came the following Thursday or Friday and was undamaged. I figured that the pre-drilled holes would be off or something but I was happy to be wrong again. The assembly was simple although it did take me around 2 hours by myself. Super impressed with the quality of the finished product and their customer service. And my 8 yo son absolutely loves it!
