These shoes are AMAZING... I "grew up" wearing the brooks beast, then recently switched to the GEL-Evolution 6 to save a few bucks for almost the same performance. Then when they discontinued the Evolution 6, I was stuck looking for another shoe that would handle my severe over-pronation and hold up under my large frame (6'2", 260#) I almost went back to wearing those bricks with strings so aptly called "the beast" but then I found out about the GEL Kayano...

I honestly expected to be disappointed by these shoes, but I have never been so happy to be WRONG!!! Not only do I get the support i need to prevent injuries, but they are SO LIGHT and COMFORTABLE!!! The only reason I can think of to ever try another shoe is if I decide to try minimalist running shoes!!!

All around GREAT shoe!!!

This model is definitely my favorite running shoe from Asics. It is well cushioned and light. The upper part of the shoe isn't as stiff as the Cumulus or the 2100 series I have also run in, which I much prefer.

Most expensive pair of shoes I've ever purchased - and well worth it. I was skeptical price made a difference in footwear for causal use.

I did not need stability - I needed cushioning.

Feet no longer hurt after a day of standing.

Running Tips - Beating Treadmill Boredom

By Judy Mick

Running on a treadmill is something that runners may find themselves doing. There are several reasons to take running inside to a treadmill. Some of the biggest reasons are safety during the winter icy weather, comfort during super cold wind chill days and when you are recovering from an injury. Here are some tips to fight the boredom that may come from running on a treadmill.

Yes, running on a treadmill is something that can be very helpful and can keep you safe and warm. But, the reality is that sometimes it can be boring. If you are used to running outside and seeing the sights - staying in one place can drive you crazy. One of the things that may be possible is to position your treadmill by a window. By doing this, you can still see what is going on outside.

Another thing that you can do is to make sure that you have your treadmill positioned in front of a television. This is how I survive most of my treadmill runs. You can lose yourself in one of your favorite shows or a ballgame and you'll be surprised how fast the time will go by.

Also, you can listen to a book on your mp3 player. This is another great way to get your mind busy on something else besides the treadmill. I don't have books downloaded to my mp3, but I do have my tablet with my Kindle app with me sometimes when I run. There's a place on my treadmill where it sits perfectly!

A good hill or speed work out will also help you get lost in your run - and forget where you are running. Start by an easy warm up mile and then go for a certain interval at a certain incline or a certain speed. Then, ease your treadmill back down for recovery and then do it again. A good hill workout - is to go up a certain amount of an incline (can be from .5% - 1%) until you work up to your goal incline. Then bring the treadmill back down to 0 or 1 for recovery and then do it again. This really will help the time fly by.

You can do the same thing with your speed levels for your speed interval workout. Or you can just have a goal speed and go straight to that for so long - and then back to your recovery speed. Either way is a great speed workout!

Treadmill running is something that does not have to be boring. And, sometimes it's a great way to get your run in when you may have not done so otherwise.

8 Running Tips To Boost Your Motivation

By Daniel Nenkov

Running is simple. You don't need a room full of equipment or a team in order to run. But sometimes it is harder to get out of the door and run. Here is a list of 8 simple tricks that may come handy when the pint of ice cream is calling your name from the fridge.

Wear your black toenails as badges of honor. Congrats! Your bruised nails are hard earned trophies. However, that doesn't mean that you have to flash them to everyone you meat. Keep 'em private.

Make early morning appointments with your friends. Waking up for an early run can be tough. Have a few drinks the night before and the odds of your rolling out of bed and pulling on your shoes at 6 am approach laughable.

Unless you've promised to meet someone.

I cannot tell you exactly how many morning runs I've missed, but I've never missed an appointment with my buddies. And neither have they.

Just run around the block if you don't feel like running. 9 out of 10 times you will run more than you thought. It's just like flossing - all you need to do is to commit that you'll floss one tooth every day. I guarantee you'll floss the whole mouth every time.

Sign up for a race to get instant motivation. Registering for an event that is 8, 12 or 20 weeks away is the single most effective way to motivate yourself to get out there and run.

Want an easy way to get even more motivated? Sign up with a friend or a group of friends. Bingo! Now all you've got to do is train.

Become a member of a local running club. I am a member of a local club and don't know it's name. Seriously. My membership gives me a discount at some local races and 10% off at the local running store. I never get advantage of those perks, but even without them I will still my my $20 yearly membership. Why? Because my running club is full of really nice people and it makes me feel good to be a small part of that.

Remind yourself there will always be someone slower than you. Don't be afraid that you are not the fastest runner. That's the cool thing about running. There will always be someone slower than you... and someone faster, of course.

Having million things to do is an excuse for running, not an argument against it. There are many excuses to skip a run, but being busy is just not one of them. You ask why? Because taking 30 mins to run will help you organize your thoughts and clear your head. It's better than sipping another cup of coffee or even taking a nap.

Rest is training too. Sometimes you really don't feel like running and even Tony Robins cannot make you get off the couch and do your training. Don't worry too much. Your body needs to recover and it is perfectly fine to miss a training every once in a while.

Marathon Running Tips - It's Alright To Be A Beginner More Than Once

By Judy Mick

There are so many runners out there who may have run many miles and completed in several marathons. Then, sometimes life happens and they either have to stop running for a while or they are unable to run the miles that they are accustomed to running. When they decided to start putting in the miles again - they really need to start back as a beginner again.

Here's what I mean by that. When you are training for a marathon - you have to plan out a running schedule for 16 to 18 weeks ahead of the race itself. This is to get you trained well and to put in the mileage needed to complete the marathon. These schedules are usually planned for "beginner", "intermediate" or "advanced". Each is made to build mileage and endurance according to your fitness level.

Many runners who have run marathons in the past - have a time off - and decide to start training again may decide that they want to use an intermediate or advanced level. However, this may not be the smart thing to do. Especially if they have not run much in a year or so.

In this case, they need to put their ego behind them and use a beginner plan. Doing this is a way to start back slowly for their training and will help them to keep from getting injured. This will help them to only add 10% to their mileage weekly (which is what is recommended to do it correctly).

Starting with a more aggressive plan that they are probably not ready for may do one of two things. They will get injured before they even get to the starting line because they are trying to do too much, too soon. Or, they will get frustrated because they can't keep up with the training and may stop running again.

Starting again with a beginner plan will get them to the starting line and ready to run. After completing that marathon - then they can get back into running the way that they used to do. Then, they can plan for another marathon and use an intermediate schedule if they want to improve their times.

It's exciting to be getting back into running again after "life" gets in the way. The important thing is to train for the first marathon to finish it and to get your confidence back. Then, you can keep going from there!

303 High Tech Fabric Guard - The Escort Passport 9500ix Radar Detector - Mobil 1 Synthetic Motor Oil

303 High Tech Fabric Guard

By Joe Mcdonald

303 High Tech Fabric Guard is a non toxic, ozone safe advanced fluoropolymer protectant that can be used effectively on a wide variety of fabrics. It is specifically designed to provide excellent water & oil repellency, superior stain resistance and to prevent the formation of mildew. It protects from the harshest of environments, yet is safe enough to be used on the finest wools and silks.

A great feature of this fabric guard unlike others is that it also provides high quality UV protection, which helps to prevent any treated surfaces from fading or becoming prematurely damaged by the sun. This is a particularly attractive feature if you are using the product to treat any exterior fabrics like like a convertible top for instance.

The versatility of 303 High Tech Fabric Guard means that not only can it be used to protect parts of your car but it can also be used in and around the home to protect things like clothing, garden gazebos, garden furniture, tents, vehicle and boat covers... the potential uses for the product are huge.

The fabric guard dries odourless which is ideal if you are going to use it to protect interior surfaces or clothing for example, as the last thing you want after cleaning and protecting your fabrics is to be overwhelmed by a strong unpleasant chemical smelling odour.

303 High Tech Fabric Guard gives months of protection which can vary slightly depending on the conditions that the treated fabrics are exposed to but it is definitely one of the most durable fabric guards available. Ideally it should be reapplied every 3-4 months to maintain an optimum level of protection yet even if this is not done you should still see some level of protection for up to six months.

A very good quality, high performing and flexible product, 303 High Tech Fabric Guard will give your fabrics months of not only water, oil, stain and mildew repellency but also crucial UV protection. It is also a great product to use in addition to 303 Aerospace protectant which will rejuvenate and protect all of your hard surfaces.

Don't Buy The Escort Passport 9500ix Radar Detector Until You Have Read This Review

By Ian Hardiman

Writing reviews of radar detectors like the Escort Passport 9500ix can sometimes be good, sometimes be bad. One thing's for sure though - I never get bored with it. Escort have been around for a long time now, gradually improving their radar detector technology with each subsequent model.

The new Escort Passport iQ seems to be the gadget everyone's talking about. The Passport iQ combines Escort Radar Detection with a TomTom style GPS navigation function. For me personally, I don't think the iQ is that great a radar detector or GPS though. The best GPS is undoubtedly the Tomtom and, in my opinion, the best radar detector is the Passport 9500ix.

Rather than try to tack on GPS navigation (as they've done with the iQ), Escort have used the GPS functionality of the Passport 9500ix to help create the best radar detector on the market. By using GPS, the Passport 9500 "learns" where false alarms occur. This is a wonderful feature. You won't ever have to slam on the brakes as you drive by the convenience store with the automatic door openers ever again!

The Passport 9500 ix also uses GPS in another clever way. GPS technology is used to measure your speed. The faster you go, the greater the range of the unit's radar detection is set to. This means, the Escort unit always gives you plenty of warning and time to slow down.

As an added bonus, Escort even provide you with protection from speed traps that don't use radar at all. Included with the unit is 3 months free access to a database of all known speed cameras across North America. Using it's GPS capabilities, the Escort Passport 9500ix will warn you when one's nearby.

The Passport 9500 is beautifully made and designed. The screen is clear and bright - reading the warning messages is no problem at all, even on the brightest of days. Audible alarms are loud and noticeable but they don't become annoying.

Compared to lots of other models available, the 9500ix is relatively compact and is easily installed using the supplied windscreen suction mount. A clever feature is the Smart cord that both powers the unit and provides a more covert warning when discretion is required.

All in all, the Escort Passport 9500ix is the most sensitive and effective radar detector I've ever tested. It's not the cheapest but it is the best. I highly recommend it.

The Top 5 Reasons to Use Synthetic Motor Oil

By Ron Haugen

If you are a new car owner, or the owner of a new car, chances are you have thought about oil. After all, if you want your engine to run well, and efficiently, you are going to have to make it a top priority to check your motor oil regularly to ensure that it isn't burnt, or low. And chances are, you have probably also heard the tales of synthetic oil, this new oil not made from minerals. Many claim it gives better performance, and tests have shown this to be true. But why should you use synthetic motor oil? Well, we'll give you five reasons why.

Reason Number One: Money

Money is a top priority for most. The more you can save, the more often you can afford to buy the things that you like. Saving money also allows you to put more away in to your savings for your future. Synthetic oil is hands down cheaper than mineral oil. Why is this? Because mineral oil is a natural (albeit diluted by the time it reaches your hands) resource that is quickly growing scarcer and scarcer, making the price of it rise steadily, while synthetic oil lasts longer.

Reason Number Two: Performance

Everyone cares about their engine performance far more than they let on. It is a proven fact; people car about the way their cars run because their cars are investments, and everyone wants to get the most out of an investment, right? With synthetic oil, engine performance improves greatly. This is because synthetic oil is cleaner, more efficient, and it makes your engine work less. New car owners commonly choose synthetic engine oil for this very reason; it keeps their new engine running like new.

Reason Number Three: Easy Flowing

Flow is a real problem with some oils. This is because they are either so thick, or so filled with impurities, that they don't flow through your engine properly. This can cause a whole host of problems, none of which should be your priority to rush right in to. Synthetic oil flows easily through your engine, which is a quality that makes if perfect for mid-mileage vehicles and especially for newer performance vehicles, as it means that the engine has to do far less work.

Reason Number Four: Longer Lasting

It has been proven time and time again in order comparison tests that synthetic motor oil lasts far longer than mineral engine oil. This is because it takes far longer for synthetic oil to heat up to a degree where it could be damaged, and has better evaporation.

Reason Number Five: Less Engine Wear

Synthetic oil is slipper. Slippery oil means less engine wear. Less engine wear means that your engine lasts longer. A longer lasting engine means a longer lasting car, and ultimately this means that you get more bang for the buck from your vehicle, just as you do from your synthetic motor oil.

Barnett Jackal Crossbow Package

Barnett Jackal Crossbow Package

The Barnett Jackal Crossbow Is Great For The Experienced Or Newbie Crossbow Hunter

By Ned D'Agostino

For thousands of years, archery was a time honored skill that was taken up and practiced by many for survival. Before the age of guns and gun powder came along, most towns, cities and villages were protected by highly trained archers who wielded them as fierce weapons in campaigns of war. Most of these people began training to shoot a bow at a tender age. Once they gained the basic skills, they were then ready to handle the more advanced weapon of the crossbow.

From the beginning, the crossbow was designed to be fast and accurate when aimed at a target. These ancient crossbows tended to be very heavy and you needed some muscle strength in order to hold it steady and shoot straight. Today's crossbows essentially follow the same design as those of old, but have modern features.

For instance, the Barnett Jackal crossbow is a sleek sports machine that is quick and agile under most conditions. If you fancy yourself as someone who is a pretty good shooter with a gun, you will probably also be good with the crossbow. However, don't automatically assume you can simply pick one of these babies up and go off hunting like you're used to. First of all, you need to be fully aware of all of the legal permissions needed in your local area to take a crossbow out on a hunt. Regulations can vary from state to state and from region to region, so be sure that you are well within your rights to use the Barnett crossbow for hunting.

Barnett crossbows are always a winner with their fans because they are very well designed and feature the latest materials and workmanship. When you lay your eyes on the Barnett Jackal crossbow, it is a handsome bow for sure. It is more lightweight than other bows and can be handled by both young and old alike. Of course, if you are getting this for a child or teen, you will want to closely supervise them at first to make sure they can handle such a hefty weapon without injuring themselves or others. While crossbows can be a lot of fun to shoot with, this is still a serious weapon that should be treated with the utmost of respect.

You will find that the Barnett Jackal crossbow packs a lot of punch into its compact frame and you'll appreciate the speed of the arrows. This particular bow is very affordable and has the ability to shoot arrows for long distances. Of course, the accuracy of those arrows is something that each owner of this crossbow will have to practice. For those who like to hunt regularly, you will enjoy the challenge of handling a completely different type of weapon that requires you to use more of your senses, intelligence and marksmanship skills.

Why The Barnett Commando Crossbow Is Still Popular

By Ned D'Agostino

Many people who are drawn to the ancient sport of archery are intrigued by the added challenge of using a bow and arrow set up to shoot at a target. There was a time long ago when crossbows were exclusively used for most hunting and shooting competitions. Now days, the stoic bow is more of a novelty that is seen as an alternative to using a rifle. Regardless, in recent years, the crossbow has made a comeback in popularity. The Barnett Company has been way ahead of this trend, because they've been making crossbows for hunters for more than 50 years. If you are at all familiar with their product line, you'll see talk of one of their best models that has been around for many years - the Barnett Commando crossbow.

For many sportsmen, the Barnett Commando crossbow was the very first professional style bow they owned. It was a predecessor to some of the current popular Barnett bows that are widely used today. There are two versions that you'll commonly find online. The original version is the Commando I, which is much harder to find these days. Barnett no longer manufacturers these and so you'll only find this one in a used condition from a secondhand seller. The Commando II is the updated version of this model. There are many more of these to be found since these were made to last longer. Again, this is a discontinued model, but you will find plenty of owners who enjoy using theirs for target shooting or regular hunting.

One of the features that owners really like about this model is that it has a self-cocking mechanism that makes it easier to prepare for the shot. Many agree that it is very accurate when pointed at any target. Accuracy, of course, is something that most crossbow aficionados are very concerned about. There's no purpose in owning a sophisticated weapon like the Barnett Commando crossbow if you're not going to work on accuracy. This bow certainly makes it easier to hit your target.

For an older shooting machine, the Barnett Commando crossbow has a nice, sleek look to it that many of today's hunters and shooters admire. This is one that certainly stands the test of time. That's why many are still searching online for a used commando 2 crossbows to add to their collection of sports weapons. This would be a good model for any beginner crossbow user to learn how to shoot in the archery style. Most of these that you find in mint condition are reasonably priced.

While most kits still come with the original aluminum bolts, you will still need to search online for the right kind of bolts to use for this model if you wish to continue using it regularly. As one of the original popular models, the Commando is still formidable and has lots of speed and accuracy.

Bobkona Soft-Touch Reversible Bonded Leather Match 3-Piece Sectional Sofa Set

Bobkona Soft-Touch Reversible Bonded Leather Match 3-Piece Sectional Sofa Set

Better than expected looks great in my living room color and size are just right matches my rugs and decor, It was fairly easy to put together and is pretty comfy. It looks great in my living room, and is exactly as pictured. I would recommend!

I was looking for an inexpensive, non-fabric sectional for my living room. I have cats, and fabric doesn't work for me. I found this item on Amazon, and it was the size and had the features I needed. I was actually surprised at the quality of the item when it arrived. The sectional and ottoman are sturdy and attractive. The seating is not plush (you don't sink into it) but I don't need that in this item. It came in three boxes, and was easy to assemble.

The only complaint I have is on the delivery, though it is a comment more than a complaint. I knew the item would be brought to the sidewalk by a semi, but the delivery date was two days later than expected. My husband is retired so it wasn't an issue for us. If I had taken off work and waited around all day for them to bring it, I would have been upset. The item showed "on truck for delivery" for two days before it actually showed up.  Read more reviews....

iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot for Pets and Allergies Reviews
iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot for Pets and Allergies
I run the Roomba every other day, and iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot for Pets and Allergies does a really good job preventing lint and dust from accumulating on the floor. I occasionally suffer from a dust allergy, and I used to have to sweep and mop frequently. Since the Roomba, a quick mop pass in the weekend is enough for the floor to shine. I'm even considering getting a Braava!

One con: while the robot is able to detangle from the occasional cable, it sometimes gets stuck on little objects that might have fallen to the ground, e.g. a pen. In that case, it recognizes that there is a problem, and turns off playing an "issue" tune. That is not a big deal, but I prefer running the robot while I am home. It is not very loud, and usually I can ignore it completely.  See more reviews

Panasonic MC-CG917 "OptiFlow" Bag Canister Vacuum Cleaner Reviews

Panasonic MC-CG917 "OptiFlow" Bag Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Panasonic "OptiFlow" Bag Canister Vacuum Cleaner is one nice vacuum. The only drawback is that the accessory storage lid is very stiff and difficult to open. i am a little hesitant to open it very aggressively because it sticks and i do not want to break the plastic lid. Great suction power and it cleans very effectively.

The small spinning brush for the stairs is cute, but it's not powered by the vacuum only by the suction. So you can't put any pressure on it or the spinning will stop. Love the telescopic wand and adjusts perfectly to you height. The three way on/off switch is located in the handle which is really nice along with the on board tools....really handy. Instant Pot IP-LUX60 6-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker, 6.33-Quart Reviews

Instant Pot IP-LUX60 6-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker, 6.33-Quart

Instant Pot IP-LUX60 6-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker works great. Tried it on several dishes, rice, and even steel cut oatmeal for breakfast (faster and easier than a normal pot with less cleanup). The manuals are generally good and easy to follow once you've puzzled through a few oddities. The company website also has great recipes other users have posted. Whatever algorithms they use for the cooking programs seem to work great. I was doubtful about loading it up and just pushing a button but it hasn't failed me yet. After using it I'm not surprised it has such a avid following among users.

For some reason I thought it was made in Canada, no such luck, this is made in China like everything else but it still nice for all that. I haven't noticed any burning plastic smell I saw other comments on. Overall, I'm happy and appreciate the 6 appliances in one though I doubt I'll ever braze or sauté anything in it. See more reviews

Portable Air Conditioner

By Cookie Maxwell

Portable Air Conditioners Offer Convenience For A Hot Day

If the heat is getting you down, and you are contemplating investing in an air conditioner, then don't wait and start looking now. The beginning of summer is the perfect time to invest in a cooling system that will help make you and your family more comfortable. You don't have to worry about finding a portable air conditioner, because there are still plenty left. It's also wise to invest early so that you will get the most use out of it throughout the hottest weather. The variety of portable units that Home Depot has in stock right now makes it easy to cool off any size room.

Before you start looking for a portable air conditioner, it is important to understand what you will need to keep your room cool along with what the units you are a looking at are capable of. The unit should be placed in a room that matches up with its specs. Along with space to BTU ratio considerations, remember that a room in direct sunlight requires more cooling power. Choosing a portable air conditioner with 10 percent more BTU's than the room requires is a good rule of thumb. Also, since the kitchen gets much hotter than other rooms in the house, add an additional four thousand BTU's to the unit you select for this room. Any room that will have more than two people in it at any given time will require more BTU's as well.

Here are a few of the most popular air conditioner that Home Depot is carrying right now:

Haier Commercial Cool Portable Air Conditioner - The main feature of this appliance is that it will quietly cool a room that is about 500 square feet. Don't overestimate the value of quiet when it comes to installing one of these. It's nice to be cool and be able to carry on a conversation at the same time.

LG Electronics 11,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Dehumidifier - Multitasking appliances are always a good thing when it comes to factoring in cost, space, and noise. If you need a dehumidifier anyway, consider this unit that can cool and reduce the humidity of your space at the same time. There are castors on the bottom that make it easy to move around your home. A pretty sweet feature of this small LG is that it can blow cold air in two different directions.

Tripp Lite Portable Cooling Unit or Air Conditioner - It is the most expensive option on the list, but don't let that stop you if it does what you need. It offers up high end features like the most environmentally friendly chemicals and processes, expelling condensation without you needing to empty any containers, and an internal dehumidifier. Since there is no need to put it near a window, this machine is perfect for an office or a space that has no way of being cooled otherwise.

Installing a Portable Air Conditioner in a Room Without Windows

By Timothy O'Bryant

I live in Texas, where air conditioning is an absolute must for modern folks like us. We all have them, but most of us are pretty ignorant when it comes to how they actually work. That knowledge is beyond the scope of this article, but we should all understand that ventilation is vital to any air conditioner. Basically, ventilation means air movement between the room being conditioned and somewhere outside of it. The air conditioner itself moves the air, and should be able to without too much resistance. Free air movement is not desirable because that would allow the temperature inside and out to equalize too quickly, and what we are trying to do is create a temperature difference between the two spaces.

Portable air conditioners are no different in basic function, but have different concerns because the entire unit resides in the room being conditioned. All other types have a component outside, including window and through-wall air conditioners, which are half in and half out of the room. So a portable air conditioner needs a connection to the outside. This is done with 5 foot long, 5 inch ducts, one or two depending on the type of unit. All portable ac's come with window adapter, basically a flat piece of foam or plastic with one or two ventilation ports, which will fit into a sliding window. The hose then attaches to the adapter and the ventilation pathway is established. This is the typical recommended setup. It is easy to install and works well. Duct tape may be used to improve the seal and secure the adapter in place. These vent kits come with the unit at no additional cost. Since they use an existing window, they do not require changes to the structure of the building. But what about the room without a sliding window?

Several options are available, and I'm sure that a little ingenuity could provide more. What is needed is just a communication to somewhere outside the room, to which the hose can be attached. One option is to go through the ceiling. For rooms with a standard nine foot high office-type ceiling with 2 x 2 or 2 x 4 drop tiles, kits are available consisting of a steel panel with a ventilation port and a hose long enough (9 feet) to reach the port. The panel replaces a single 2 x 2 tile, or half of a 2 x 4 tile. The hose is attached to the port and to the portable ac, and wallah! Ventilation established! These kits are popular for computer server rooms, which commonly have no windows, but could be used in any room with an appropriate ceiling. The steel panel has only one port, so if a dual hose setup is desired, two kits would be required. There are portable air conditioners, such as the EdgeStar Server Cool, which can be used in either single or dual hose setup. Now this kit is designed for drop tile ceilings, but I see no reason it couldn't be used for other ceiling types. With a sheet rock ceiling, for example, if a hole was cut just large enough for the connection port, and the panel placed above the ceiling, that should work too. The main problems with ceiling ventilation are twofold. First, if the ambient humidity is high, a lot of moisture is going to be pulled out of the air. This would normally be blown or pumped outside, but in this setup, it's going into the attic. In the case of a unit that pumps out condensate, the drain tube should be diverted somewhere else, like into a plumbing drain or through a wall, because otherwise it will accumulate and can ceiling tiles to discolor or even sag and fall. Units that re-evaporate and blow out condensate do better here, but it brings up the second issue, space. One will only want to use this method if the available space is large enough to allow the humid, hot air to dissipate and leave the attic. Otherwise you will be pumping a lot of heat and moisture into a small space, and wind up with an attic even warmer than normal, and may still have problems with wet tiles.

Another alternative is a dryer vent, installed just like it would be for a dryer. Two can be installed side by side for dual hose units. This is a nice setup, because it establishes a ventilation portal that is inconspicuous, permanent, and easy to reach and use. Of course, it does require a hole in the wall. With this setup, the unit can be placed pretty much where desired, unlike with the window kit, where the unit must sit near the window since the hose supplied with most units is only 5' long.

Casement windows create another type of problem, and I know of no commercially available products to ventilate a portable air conditioner through a casement window. But I have seen plexiglass panes people have constructed, cut to fit into the casement window frame with the window open, with a hole cut in the plexiglass for the hose to connect. The pane is screwed in place to the window frame, and caulked as necessary to seal it. As you can see, sliding windows are not required to use a portable air conditioner. Alternate methods of ventilation require a little more work and cost, but should result in years of comfort without further issues.
